How to Stay Fresh from Long Hours of Travelling

It’s very challenging to look and feel fresh after an 8 to 10 hours trip. Aside from stained and rumpled clothes, some of the things that prevent us from having that fresh appeal are those oily pore-clogged face, mouth with the after taste of old airplane food, and lag-induced dizziness. Shower is definitely not an option when you’re riding a bus or even in the plane. You should learn the tricks of the trade on how to stay clean and fresh the entire journey.

Hands. Traveling is fun, but you get yourself exposed to several types of bacteria. Airline toilet is one of the worst. Imagine sharing one bathroom to 50 other passengers. Not surprisingly, you can easily find E.coli on its surfaces. Doctors suggest that the best way to avoid microorganisms from colonizing your hands is by hand washing with warm water and soap which is not very suitable when travelling. As an alternative, make sure you always have an alcohol or sanitizer in your pouch wherever you go. Just squirt an ample amount in your hands and rub it in between your fingers and wrists. Do this religiously especially before eating.

Face. For girls, try to avoid putting on too much make up when you know you’re about to travel. There’ll be little space and time for you to retouch. And since you’ll be travelling for a long time, those make up in your face can cause breakouts if not removed on time. A good lip gloss will help your lips hydrated when you’re expecting a dry and humid weather to your destination. Instead of wearing a foundation, use BB creams with sunscreen whenever you are exploring the town. Wet tissues are your companion anytime you want to clean your face.

Mouth. All of us don’t want to sit next to a person who has a bad breath. Imagine how worst it can be when he wakes up after a long flight. On the contrary, we don’t want to have a bad smelling breath too. Aside from hindering our self-confidence, we felt disgusted by ourselves as well. Make it a habit to bring travel toothbrush and toothpaste and brush your teeth every after meals like the usual. But since you always don’t have sink and clean water supply, a small bottle of mouthwash will do. Don’t forget to bring some mint candies and chewing gum to help you stay fresh after a meal.

Other tips:

Always achieve a sufficient sleep is one of the important things to do the day before your travel date. If you don’t have the capacity to do so, just try and get enough sleep on your journey. Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated and avoid caffeine or alcohol. Don’t ever forget to wear your deodorant to avoid those unwanted body odors. Take your time in the shower since you won’t be having any for the next 8 hours. And finally, before leaving the house make sure that you have a stable bowel movement.
