2016 Tips for a Paris Trip

Paris-travel-tips

Paris, France might be the most popular destination among all European countries. What’s not to love in Paris? The city is filled with art, attractions, and appetizing cafes. However, the cultural collision and expensive cost of living might be too overwhelming for a tourist like you.

Don’t rush like a Parisian. Despite that fact that your stay here in this romantic city is limited, you should not fast forward everything. Savor every moment. Finish every meal with a coffee at a proper Parisian cafe (no big mugs) while enjoying the view of this breathtaking city. If you’re not a fan of caffeine, make sure to request for a déca which is probably the French term for decaf. Don’t forget to treat your taste buds with authentic French bakeries and patisseries. These goodies will surely keep you from starving while you are touring the entire city. Just make sure you remember the French words sur place (“SUHR plass”—rhymes with “surface”) if you want to eat there and emporter (“AH ahm-por-tay”), if you want the order to go.

Don’t forget to wear your lipstick! Paris is a fabulous city. Make sure you get your glam on.If you want to get to know the city well, travel by feet. You’ll get a closer view on the old streets of Paris by walking rather than when you are riding a cab. Make sure you wear comfy shoes and get your ingrown medically removed for you to have a carefree journey. Always watch out on the sidewalk. Parisians are always on the rush and glued over their phones. You stop suddenly because you can’t help but be mesmerized by a chic boutique window or a sunset over the Eiffel tower. Next, you just found yourself on the floor right below a Parisian. Pardon (“pahr-DOAN”) and excusez-moi are the French expressions you’ll commonly use.

Every corner in Paris, even the simplest shops, are a perfect backdrop for a picture taking. However, you should ask permission before you snap. There is a certain law in Paris that gives its people certain image rights especially of it would case a scene. Although it’s rare for anyone to say no, unless kids are present, asking permission to take photo of a cute dog or a lovely flower display is a good way to show politeness. Museums allow taking photo using smartphones. But remember to avoid flashes if you don’t want guards to plunge down on you.

Beware of the heavy metal door marked POUSSEZ in green whenever you’re leaving the metro station. You have to push and hold on to it to make sure that it doesn’t strike a Parisian or a tourist behind you. Manners are big deal in this city and holding a door is a simple gesture of courtesy.

Another helpful tip when dining is choosing the right table. Don’t sit in a table where it’s set for a meal if you have no plans of eating. On the other hand, don’t sit on a bare table to order for lunch. If you are in a limited amount of time but you want to indulge for an espresso, order it standing at the bar. It’s quick, easy, and saves you some money.
