Backpacking in Australia will certainly exceed all of your expectations. The places in Australia are beautiful in pictures but if you backpack your way through all of it, you will be more stunned when you see those places in person. If you wish to backpack all over Australia, there are many things that you should keep in mind and these are as follows:

  • Pick the right accommodation.

Australia offers visitors and tourists different types of accommodations and one of the best accommodation for the backpacker is a hostel. This is because this type of accommodation gives them an opportunity to socialize and bond with other backpackers. You can also opt for rooms and houses for rent if you will be traveling with a group.

  • Choose the right transport.

You can choose to fly but the most meaningful and fulfilling way of getting from one state to the other us by a bus ride. Let us not forget about the fact that it is also a whole lot cheaper. There are many overnight buses with different themes that will satisfy the need of different backpackers so make sure to choose the right transportation method.

  • Be prepared for dangerous animals.

One thing that you should understand is that the Australian outback is filled with dangerous critters but you should not be afraid of it. The outback is filled with dingoes, crocodiles, jelly fishes and  sharks but more people die from bee stings than the bites of those dangerous animals that I have mentioned. With this in mind, it is recommended that you take some simple precautions and do some research before you go backpacking.

  • Learn the right lingo.

There are many people in Australia who know how to speak in English but there are still some slang words that you have to understand and know about. Some of the lingo that you need to know include sunniest (sunglasses), thongs (flip flops), boar dies (board shorts) and many more. In addition to all these terms, you also have to know about the things to keep in mind when ordering a beer. In different states, you can order a 450 ml glass of beer but in Queensland and Victoria, it should be pint. But if you are getting confused, just simply say  a stubby which is a 375 ml bottle of beer which can be understood just about anywhere.

There are many activities to do and places to visit in Australia and backpacking is one of the most recommended activities for tourists as it helps them to see the amazing places in Australia in the best way possible. Keep the things mentioned above in mind so you can make the most out of your trip.
