Città Studi and Idroscalo

Moving out of the city centre towards the eastern area of the city you can find one of Milan’s most important university, Politecnico, which is the centre of the so called Città Studi. This area is crowded with students and address them with several options when it comes to bars and pubs: this is the best area for enjoying a good beer, with places such as the Birrificio di Lambrate, which offers a selection of seasonal craft beers. Città Studi can be reached by tram lines 23 and 33, and metro line M2 (green) getting off at Piola stop.

Idroscalo is very far from the city centre, in the outskirts close to Linate airport, but is the top choice for Milanese summer nightlife, because of its many nightclubs outdoors. The most famous is Amnesia, dedicated to house music, with two rooms and excellent DJs capable of bringing the vibes of Ibiza into the city. Given its distance from the city centre, it is not possible to get there by public transport; best option would be to go there by car, otherwise by regular train to Segrate train station.

Navigli and Colonne San Lorenzo

The Navigli district is the symbol of Milanese nightlife, as it offers such a great variety of bars and clubs to be spoiled for choice.

Genres of music and types of venues change from Latin American dancing at Puerto Alegre to the Berlin style merger of sounds and underground vibes of Toilet Club. Live music can be found as well at Cox 18, former community centre now a trendy club, and at Scimmie, a club that is one of the oldest of Navigli district. As already mentioned above, you can get to Naviglie either by metro (M2 line getting off at Porta Genova stop) or by tram (lines 9 and 10).

Colonne San Lorenzo, which is closer than Navigli district to the city centre, is the meeting point for thousands of people who are in for something cheap and chic, drinking and chatting in the streets and the small square of the area, in the shadow of the Roman colonnade, instead of going to some busy nightclub.

There are several bars, which serve any kind of drinks, from bottled beers to creative cocktails to share in buckets among many people. Most famous bar of the area is Bar Rattazzo, recognisable for the hundreds of people of any age gathering outside for a chat and a drink. This area is easily reached by tram line 3, but it is also very close to the city centre, only 15 minutes walking from the Cathedral square.
